Dinner @ Phils | Maggies & VQ | Congratulations Tamsin!

Last night was just spot on… one of those ‘quiet’ nights out where you think you’ll be in bed before 10pm with your boyfriend curled up and in your Calvin klien pj’s… this was not what happened on the 20th May – something quite different occurred.

It was around 4pm when I was asked if I could possibly jump in a car and swing by Phil, my Directors house, with a few bits from the office… his bag, lost hat and Crew hoodie that was left behind when we went shooting out on the official wrap party. So as a good girl I jumped in a cab and swaned over to the beautiful house swap that he has acquired as his new London pad in swanky North West London… I had been promised dinner for my adventure over to his and the lovely Valentina – there LA Nanny who is also a great friend now would be there to fill me in on the weeks gossip. FANTASTIC.

So I settled in for a glass of vino, a fillet of fish and some sweet potato chips when my phone buzzes. Looking over the baby in my arm (George is so cute and the spitting double of Phil)  I spy that it is TamTam telling me that she has got the part in what I later decide is a ridiculously good new show and starts shooting far too soon and that I and all her friends are welcome to celebrate the great news at a pub in central london over a strawberry beer. I looked up from my phone,  shoot a look at Tini… ‘Beers?’

It was only 8.30 when dinner was done which I have to say was followed by a delicious , early… so we through on some clothes and jumped in an  Addison Lee – which Tom if you are reading this… my black cab over to Tini’s from Work was £17.60 and Ad- Lees adventure into town cost me £13… POINT PROVED! – sorry…

http://www.addisonlee.com/

On arrival, I jumped out the cab and walked down the street to a pub with a crown on it… looks about the right venue for Tamsin… ‘Tini we are looking for legs and a lot of blonde hair… 3, 2, 1… Got her!   T A M S I N!!!!!’ Lots of shreeking and jumping happened as being girls its our way of showing true appreciation for each other… I think the more ridiculous the more love to be witnessed!

Meeting up with Tam in London was lush – in our normal clothes we both looked a hell of a lot more trendy and ready to spill all sorts of stories of La, London and Cannes. Met lots of her friends – of course there had to be one which I already knew… and lots who I will look to get to know much better. Really top network of quality people surround her.

So Zaff, one of Tams buddies decided that we simply had to get ourselves over to the ‘sickist’ club that recently opened on the Fulham road… Maggies. After a few ums and arhs it was agreed that it was needed. Zaff being far to smooth meanwhile had ordered more Addison Lees and as we are finishing our drinks two black vans pull up to collect us. S M OO T H moves.

So we whizzed over to the land of the Sloane and pulled up to Maggies in Style, opening the door 6 girls saunter over to the bouncers and rather fastly growing que and are ushered downstair without even a hesitation to our table – or should I say rubix cube… which is you don’t mind me saying was ‘SICK!’

With sweets and crazy waitresses in 80’s outfits and Maggie thatcher talking to you whilst you are taking a tinkle… this small and intimate members club in Fulham is seriously NOW.

The drinks menu is even in one f those binocular sets that shows you pictures as you click a lever to your right.. its mad.

As we tae our seats a small fire works display is going off around a bowl that you could keep some rather large fish in… This bowl of fruit and ice is then covered in champagne and vodka where around 20 tall straws are placed. GET INVOVLED. we did… and we danced to every classic 80’s song you can think of and more that you can’t.

As my friend said to me when I BBM’d her from my bed this morning wishing it was saturday – not friday… no rest for this wicked….  – Kitty babe, if its good enough for the royals… its good enough for ME! And you know what I just so happen to agree.

Wrap party London Meza & Mahiki

UK wrap party was a huge amount of fun. Finishing the last day of the 7 weeks of shooting in Roehampton with Felicity trying to open a Dom P champagne bottle seemed kind of apt as endings go.

There was a feeling of great triumph as we wrapped the feature and even tears from our darling producer Harriet Rees as the final take was captured on film of the baby that she started to nurture all those months ago.

With hugs and kisses flying across the room we all gathered up our things and piled into cars to get over to Soho. Rushing up stairs with boxes from the shoot we managed between us to get everything piled in to our tiny office on Wardour St. With a quick change of clothes in my bag and a slap of the juicie tube upon my lips I used my already mangled hair to my advantage and went for the Kate Moss just rolled out of bed look and slipped into my heels… with 5 minutes to go and only 5 steps down the street to our first location…

We arrived for dinner at Meza Floridita

http://www.floridita.co.uk/london/

We had all the most important people there… Pippa, Harriet, our fabulous director – Phil, Ed Wild the slightly sexy DOP (cough) a few of the crew and my buddy and photographer of the last 6 days shooting – Stu McCardle. The party had arrived and food was needed well it arrived after a few delicious french martinis, a mojito and a glass of water for good measure… but both the cocktails and the dinner were just what we needed.

I think it was perfectly timed and I especially was delighted when the cast of Miami Vice walked in… my boyfriend and his friends. Named appropriately by my boss and producer, Harriet due to their pink shirts rolled up linen trousers, boat shoes and let’s be fair there ridiculous Guns… biceps, bulging muscles… that are just too sexy…. (cough – again maybe just me?! or is it just a Sloane thing… )

So we then ate mussels, haha – not theirs – drank more wine and got fairly jolly… Felicity our leading lady, starlet, beauty and new best friend swaned in around 11pm – oh so fashionably late – No no, she had been at an engagement party and then as promised had dashed from her artist boyfriend caught a cab and got stuck into the wild excitement that was the party to end all parties.

Seeing as it was 11pm we kind of thought it was best to take Miami Vices advice and catch our own cab over to the final destination, or so we thought… Mahiki! That funny club that makes you feel like you should be in Hawaii, were the bar men wear flowers on their shirts and grass skirts… but all the same it seemed like a great option for dancing.

As we pulled up I jumped out of the cab and announced the parties arrival to the fairly friendly looking gay guy in fur at the door, how very sex in the city – he escorted us to our table where the champagne was to start to pour!

After a few hours of drinking champagne through straws out of chunks of melon in a chest that only pirates could find on a deserted island – of course this at 2am is perfectly normal… we decided to wonder over to Stu’s house on beak St. Location 3 – perfect!!!! Picking up a bottle of wine and some cigarettes we swayed arm in arm down the cobles of Carneby st, home. Heels in hand and handbag under the other arm we arrived at his 6 floored town house in the heart of Soho… don’t ask why my friend lives in such a bachelor pad he just does and it is – just – awesome to be able to call on him when you have lost your wallet and need a sofa to sleep on, or if your Stu’s friend the choice of a few rooms  – its like a private members club for Stu’s friends only.

Music | Soundtrack | Fun Energetic original….

Spent the whole day listening to every song spotify will let us play, youtube will let us watch and myspace will buffer fast enough to give any of these new young artists a chance at getting there tunes in there.

We got to the stage where we decided that our cast had their fingers on the music pulse and that we would ask them all to send us their top ten tunes that they have been rocking out to recently…

Bill Nighy used to be in a band back in the day and was pulling out all sorts of amazing suggestions in Germany of some absolute classics so am very excited see what treasures he pulls out the bag.

Georgia King is most definitely going to come up with something pretty cool as she is friends with some of the most talented bread muso’s out there.

We also know that the beautiful Ed Westwick is a fan of

THE BLACK KEYShttp://www.myspace.com/theblackkeys   |   I’LL BE YOUR MAN

ASA RANSOM |   http://www.myspace.com/asaransom   |      RELIC

I think I did fairly well with a few cool ones I know…

MAN LIKE ME | http://www.myspace.com/manlikeme  |     LOVESTRUCK

WOLF GANG | http://www.myspace.com/thisiswolfgang   | BACK TO BACK (AUCOSTIC)

YADI | http://www.myspace.com/hannahyadi  |   GOLD

Phil came up with some nice one…

OK GO | http://www.myspace.com/okgo |   HERE IT GOES AGAIN

SLIIMY     | http://www.myspace.com/sliimy  |   WAKE UP

KITTY DAISY & LEWIS | http://www.myspace.com/kittydaisyandlewis  |  GOING UP THE COUNTRY

Kind of want to hear any ideas anyone has really – after recently seeing the trailer that the Producers are taking to Cannes I am starting to get a real feel for this soundtrack stuff and music really is a huge percentage of a movie… so we wanna get it right!

Will hit you back with some emailed responses from Brooke shields, Nighy and Felicity when they respond!

Coming home…

Driving through the valleys, over lakes and rivers we are on our way home from 7 weeks of an incredible adventure among the Alpine mountains… taking in the beautiful scenery that has surrounded us for so long I am sat with felicity, Phil and Ed quietly breathing in the last moments and contemplating the overwhelming excitement of seeing loved ones within a few hours. We are on our way home.

It’s a truly peculiar feeling to finish being on location and being a first for me it was not easy.

A bubble…

A family…

Bonded by situation

On arrival to your new surroundings you are nerves and unsure of what to expect, barriers are up and all around are new rules and regulations. Being new to a film is much like being new to a culture or like having to learn a new language… due to the high pressure enviroment you learn it quickly, your survival instincts are forced to kick in.

I think it’s this shock to the system that propels everyone forward and brings the team closer together, emotional highs and lows are unable to be hidden and a sense of loyalty and a need to protect your fellow team-mate starts to become innate.

I think the first time you are able to breakdown the professional barriers or create deeper levels of understanding within your crew are within the social experiences – your play time.  Out for dinner, over that first bottle of wine when stories, thoughts and feelings start to reel off uncontrollably and a new sense of relaxation sets in… of course you get the fear the next day… did I say too much, should I just have left that last glass and gone home…But snt this the same within any new relationship; friends, lovers… the office christmas party!

It was the half way party when it all changed from an affection to true love for the Chalet girl crew. Peaches night club in Garmisch was the stomping ground for not only some serious dancing but some serious bonding and I think we have all been glued together ever since.

Which is why as I starred out the window with my sun glasses on and drove out of the car park in  Kaunertal on that final day Friday 30th April I tried to hide the tear roll down my check. Why is it that the body feels the need to make it hard to swallow a goodbye? I guess it was that this magical and for me life changing experience was over. That the people would be forever left in the bubble of Chalet Girl, which would now be a memory.

Am I being over dramatic, maybe? But so were the mountains, the back drop to this tear as it rolled down my cheek.

I digress…

We drove that saturday morning through Austria and then through germany which led us back into Garmisch as I looked at the streets and roads we had made our home for those few weeks I was shocked that now they were left so empty. Felicity broke the silence “can you even imagine being the only one of production left here?” she was right without our family without the hundred people who had made this place our home there was no “Garmisch” as we knew it as we had created it.

The excitement from this point kicked in! We were going home!
